14/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - Mediterranean - MEDREG and MED-TSO focus on platforms for gas and electricity. The groups of energy regulators and energy transport grid managers in the Mediterranean region, MEDREG and MED-TSO, unveiled at the very first meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM)'s energy platforms in Barcelona on 7 and 8 March their draft work programme for 2016-2017 for regional electricity and gas platforms in the Mediterranean. The idea is to draw up a suitable analysis of planned investment in the energy sector in the Mediterranean in 2020-2030, estimated to be worth €700 billion, explain the two associations, which are planning to assess and justify the adoption of regional and sub-regional approaches with a view to integrating the gas and electricity markets in UfM countries in respect of their diversity. A series of workshops and studies will be organised by MEDREG and MED-TSO to this end, whose work programme is due to be given the go-ahead by UfM members by 30 April. (EH)
