Brussels, 15/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has launched a public consultation that will run until 15 April on the publication of non-financial information by big companies quoted on the stock exchange.
Since December 2014, EU Directive 2014/95 requires 6,000 European companies with more than 500 members of staff and whose activities are of public interest (such as banks, insurance companies and companies quoted on the stock exchange) to make annual declarations of non-financial information about their environmental, social, human rights and anti-corruption policies (see EUROPE 11027).
The Commission is due to publish guidelines laying down a methodology for the disclosure of the required information and the aim of the public consultation, launched on Friday 15 January, is to gather the views of stakeholders to help it prepare the guidelines.
