The European employers' association, BusinessEurope, called on Thursday 14 January for the European Commission to take time for an in-depth assessment of the impact on the European economy of any change in the EU's anti-dumping legislation resulting from the EU granting China a market economy status. “The decision-making process on this important question must be transparent and involve the EU business community”, the association insists. BusinessEurope suggests close collaboration between the EU and its other trade partners, which are also being called upon to look at granting China market economy status, such as the United States, to avoid trade in Chinese exports being diverted to Europe as a result of any differences in opinion between them.
