08/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - Slower growth in passenger air travel in Europe. According to the latest figures published on 8 Janaury by ACI EUROPE, an organisation representing European airports, passenger air travel grew by 5.1% in November in the EU member states, compared with the level of often above 6% in previous months. “This slower growth is essentially due to heavy traffic losses at Russian airports, as well as to the fierce impact of the Lufthansa strikes on German airports and the toll taken by the Paris terrorist attacks on French airports,” explained ACI EUROPE's director general, Olivier Jankovec. Passenger numbers fell by 11.3% at Frankfurt Airport and 1.3% at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. Over the same month, airports in Europe outside the EU saw slower growth of 2.9%. (PH)
