08/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Moedas to visit Jerusalem and Ramallah. Research, Science and Innovation Commissioner Carlos Moedas will begin a three-day visit to Jerusalem and Ramallah on Sunday 10 January. “The trip is part of a broader effort to strengthen science diplomacy in the region and will build on the good cooperation between EU and local research organisations”, said the European Commission on Friday 8 January. Moedas will hold meetings with President of Israel Reuven Rivlin, Israeli Science, Technology and Space Minister Ofir Akunis, and will visit a number of Israeli research centres. In Ramallah, he will meet with Palestinian Education and Higher Education Minister Sabri Saidam and his Deputy Minister Mohammed Abu Zaid to discuss “a possible research and innovation capacity-building programme for Palestine”.
