04/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - Social Democrat leaders to look into SMER party's attitude on sidelines of European summit. On Thursday 3 December, the president and vice-president of the S&D Group at the European Parliament, Gianni Pittella (Italy) and Tanja Fajon (Slovenia) respectively, called on the president of the Party of European Socialists (PES), Sergei Stanishev (Bulgaria), to raise the case again of the SMER party (to which Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico belongs) at the Social Democrat leaders' meeting in Brussels on 17 December (on the sidelines of the European summit). Slovakia intends to lodge a complaint at the European Court of Justice about the decision of the EU member states to relocate 120,000 migrants within the EU (see EUROPE 11400). Hungary has recently said that it would follow suit. (MB)
