Brussels, 27/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 27 November, the European Commission announced that it had adopted a new €100 million aid programme for Georgia to support the reforms linked to the EU-Georgia association agreement, and the agreements on mobility.
This package will help Georgia make reforms in its public administration sector (reforms particularly on the fight against corruption), and in its local administration (including the decentralisation of responsibilities).
The funding will also help the main public institutions respect commitments resulting from the association agreement in the areas of energy, transport, electronic communications, the environment and climate change - and also in the area of implementing the action plan on visa liberalisation. Furthermore, the aid will enable agriculture, food security and rural development to be fostered.
In addition, the Civil Society Facility will help civil society organisation, with particular emphasis on diversifying their sources of financing. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
