Brussels, 27/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 26 November, 27 ministers from 19 member states sent a joint letter to Frans Timmermans, the first vice-president of the European Commission, calling on him to adopt clear targets to reduce the administrative burden on businesses.
The ministers who co-signed a letter (those who did not include the ministers of Belgium, Estonia, Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Poland), stressed the importance of legislation which is in line with the 21st century and is “better and simpler”. They are calling for a sea change in the “mindset” of drafting European legislation. All Europe legislation which leads to administrative burdens must, they argue, be revised. This letter will be discussed on Monday 30 November at the meeting in Brussels of the Competitiveness Council. (Original version in French by Solenn Paulic)
