18/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - EU denounces numerous executions for drug-related offences. On Tuesday 17 November, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini denounced the most recent executions in Saudi Arabia for drug-related offences. These have brought up the number of executions to more than 150 since the beginning of 2015. The spokesperson points out that “This figure already surpasses the total of executions recorded in a single year in the Kingdom since 1995”. She pointed out that the European Union is opposed to capital punishment in all cases and without exception, and will continue to consistently call for restricting its scope to the most serious crimes, in line with United Nations minimum standards, and ultimately for its universal abolition.
