09/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Kick off for Code Week. On Saturday 10 October, the European Commission will give the official kick off to European Code Week. This event will end on 18 October, and during the week thousands of activities will be organised all over Europe in order to raise people's awareness of how computer programming works, in an ever more digital environment. “These days you need digital skills as a basic requirement to get ahead in the modern workplace”, said European Commission Vice-President for the Digital Single Market Andrus Ansip. Early next year, the Commission will present an EU-wide skills agenda, which on the one hand will focus on action to help people develop and upgrade their skills, and on the other hand will set out measures on better anticipating market needs in terms of skills.
