Consultation on alternative resolution for civil and trade disputes

Brussels, 18/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 18 September, the European Commission launched a public consultation in to implementation of the directive (2008/52/EC) on the alternative resolution for civil and trade disputes.

This alternative dispute resolution seeks to reduce the costs of proceedings and speed up the resolution of the different cases involved. On average, mediation helps to reduce the time frames of these cases to 43 days, as opposed to the 566 day average in appeals lodged at the courts, explained the Commission, in a press release.

The goal of this consultation aims to bolster a report from the Commission on the application of this directive. The consultation is open until Monday, 7 December.
