Brussels, 18/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 18 September, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to the extension until 31 December 2015 of a number of Danish schemes to stabilise the bank system.
The measures include a compensation scheme and two measures to facilitate the sale of ailing banks open to financial institutions in Denmark in difficulty. The Commission also approved the prolongation of a winding-up scheme for Danish branches of financial institutions established in Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The Commission concluded that all the measures were compatible with EU rules on state aid to banks during the crisis because they are targeted, proportionate and limited in time and scope.
