€50 million EIB credit line

Brussels, 18/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) will allocate a €50 million credit line in “support of Tunisian industrial and commercial enterprises”, says a press release published at the end of the visit of EIB vice-president, Roman Escolano, to Tunis on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September. The recipient of this credit line is AMEN BANK, with which Escolano signed a financing agreement during his visit.

The EIB “is confident that the private sector is set to play a key role in reviving growth and employment in Tunisia”. The operation will be “of great socio-economic importance, involving close cooperation with civil society (Réseau Entreprendre) and a key banking sector player (AMEN BANK)”. Support for development projects is announced, especially for the benefit of SMEs, and AMEN BANK undertakes to “dedicate 10% of the credit line made available by the EIB to Tunisian micro-enterprises, which will receive a preferential rate of interest”, the EIB press release states.
