Five further rural development programmes adopted

Brussels, 26/08/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 25 August, the European Commission adopted five more rural development programmes for the period from 2014 to 2020.

France. The programme for Basse-Normandie sets out a strategy for the use of €474 million of public funding (2014-2020), made up of €308.7 million from the EU budget and €165.3 million in national funding.

The Commission also adopted the Réunion programme, which will receive public funding to the tune of €535.7 million, €385.5 million of which will be provided from the EU budget.

Spain. The Castilla y Leon region will receive €1.82 billion of public funding, with €969 million from Community funds. The Canarias programme, which was adopted, will be publicly funded to the tune of €185.3 million, the EU budget providing €157.5 million of this amount.

United Kingdom. Northern Ireland will receive €760.1 million under the rural development programme adopted by the Commission, including €228.4 million from the EU budget. Almost 20% of Northern Irish farms will benefit from investment support to restructure and modernise their businesses. (Lionel Changeur)
