Brussels, 31/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 31 July, the Council adopted, by written procedure, the first legal acts implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached in Vienna on 14 July 2015 on the Iranian nuclear dossier (see EUROPE 11359).
These legal acts transpose into Community law the United Nations Security Council resolution approving the joint plan. This resolution provides for certain derogations from restrictions currently in place, so as to allow certain nuclear-related equipment to be shipped out of Iran. Further objectives involve starting operations to convert the enrichment plant of Fordow to the production of stable isotopes and to modernise the Arak reactor. The resolution also allows for a number of other derogations to the restrictions in place regarding “transfers and activities necessary to implement certain nuclear -related commitments specified in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or required for the preparation of the implementation of this plan”.
The legal acts will be published in the Official Journal of Saturday 1 August. (Camille-Cerise Gessant)
