Brussels, 31/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 31 July, the European Commission announced that it has decided to close an antitrust investigation that was launched in December 2010 into a number of cement manufacturers in ten EU member states, which it suspected had been involved in price-fixing (see EUROPE 10275).
The Commission had indications suggesting possible import/export restrictions, market sharing, price coordination and information exchange in the markets for cement and related products. Inspections were carried out in November 2008 and September 2009. The evidence obtained in the Commission's investigation was not sufficiently conclusive to confirm the initial concerns.
