28/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - EU stands shoulder to shoulder with victims of terrorism. The EU expressed its condolences to the victims and families affected by the suicide attack the previous day on the Jazeera Hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia, in which fifteen people died. It also repeated its determination to support Somalia in the fight against terrorism. “Such acts of terrorism will not undermine the willingness to progress on the political process towards a stable and secure country. … Those behind such crimes must be swiftly brought to justice”, said the spokesperson of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini. “The EU will continue its support to the people of Somalia and the efforts of Somali Federal institutions aimed at establishing a secure and safe environment so Somalia can move forward to recover from decades of conflict”, the spokesperson continued. Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Islamist group Al Shabab. (AN)
