24/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - Arab consultations on EU neighbourhood policy. On Wednesday 24 June, Lebanon took the initiative of organising Arab consultations ahead of the European neighbourhood policy (ENP) review that has been announced for the end of 2015. According to Lebanese media, the foreign ministers or secretaries of state from Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt and Palestine took part, as well as a lower level representative from Jordan, and the secretaries-general from the Arab League and from the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). The format was that of an intergovernmental meeting, organised with the EU's support, and it coincided with the visit to Beirut of European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn. Most of the Arab countries have already sent Brussels their analyses and requests for the re-shaping of the ENP. An Arab roadmap is expected to be drawn up after the meeting in Beirut. (FB)
