Brussels, 24/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 24 June, the European Commission adopted a Proposal for a Regulation on a new uniform format for visas for entering the EU.
In a press release, the European Commission indicated that the objective of the Commission's proposal is to fight visa sticker fraud, “which has significantly increased over the past few years”. By including new security techniques, the future standard format will replace the former model that has been in force since 1995 and should make counterfeiting more difficult.
According to the Commission, following implementation of the European Visa information system, the standard currently in force will continue to be applied for long-stay visas, namely those that are longer than 90 days or the so-called D-visa. (Mathieu Bion)
