ACER and ENTSO-E actively consult on network codes

Brussels, 03/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - ACER (Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators) and ENTSO-E (European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity) announced on Tuesday 2 June that the feedback from the public consultation opened at the end of 2014 on how to ensure effective stakeholder participation in the forthcoming network code implementation process will soon be channelled through three specific committees, one per family of codes (market codes, operational codes and connection codes). The committees, chaired by the Agency, will engage interested parties. Relevant European associations, in particular, are envisaged to play an active role in the process.

Network codes are common rules relating to the various cross-border issues set out in EU regulations governing the electricity and gas markets. They may become legally binding through the comitology procedure if ACER recommends such a measure to the European Commission. (Emmanuel Hagry)
