Victims' rights directive transposition guide published

Brussels, 20/02/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 20 February, the European Commission published a guide to help member states incorporate the new directive on victims' rights into national legislation. The directive was adopted in November 2012 and the deadline for transposition is 16 November 2015.

The guide has been published to coincide with the European day for victims of crime on 22 February, the Commission says in a press release. “Every year, 75 million people fall victim to crime across the European Union”, highlighted Commissioner Vera Jourova.

The new directive sets minimum rights, such as the right to clear information during the trial, the right to translation services or the right to access to psychological support services. (Solenn Paulic)
