Brussels, 06/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - With the start of 2015, the European Commission's new internal task force, put in place to overcome the problems of absorption of structural funds, has got down to work. A first meeting was held on Tuesday 6 January.
Technical assistance will be offered to the countries concerned and the sharing of best practice will be encouraged. The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia are the countries the task force could help fully utilise unused commitment appropriations from the previous programming period.
This initiative is, inter alia, in response to the call, contained in the conclusions adopted by the European Council at the end of December (see EUROPE 11221), for the best use to be made of outstanding funding. (MD)
