Brussels, 06/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - European carriers have never had their planes as full as in 2014, achieving a record load factor of close to 81%, the Association of European Airlines (AEA) announced on 5 January.
Compared with the previous year, 11 million extra passengers travelled on board domestic, European and inter-continental flights in 2014. This represents an increase of 3%, “despite the very slow economic growth in Europe”, says the AEA. With only modest capacity expansion, the increased demand was met, the AEA says, thanks to the commercial strategies of the airlines and better aircraft use. (MD)
