Brussels, 19/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - The European Union is to mobilise €5 million to help the countries of the Horn of Africa better manage the legal and illegal migration flows, and the forced displacement of peoples, the European Commission announced on Friday 19 December.
This Commission financing decision concerns a project that will enable the relevant authorities to be trained to enforce the law, and that will enable reception centres to be created for migrants in the countries of the region and basic services to be provided for refugees in the communities that host them. The new EU-East Africa dialogue on migration, known as the Khartoum process, was launched in Rome at the ministerial meeting on 28 November, the Commission states. (AN)
