19/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - Organic products agreement with South Korea. On Friday 19 December, the European Commission welcomed the announcement by South Korea that, from 1 February 2015, processed organic products certified in Europe may be sold as organic in South Korea. This is part of a bilateral agreement on organic equivalency, for which the European Commission will finalise the EU recognition rules for South Korean products in the coming weeks. “This agreement will also provide new market opportunities in this key export market. Significantly, it also eliminates the need for double certification and thereby simplifies and reduces red tape for EU companies”, said Commissioner for Agriculture Phil Hogan. (LC)
