Brussels, 19/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 18 December, the Russian minister for foreign affairs said he considered the new measures adopted by the EU against Crimea, “an inalienable part of Russia”, were “absolutely unacceptable” and “discriminatory” (see EUROPE 11221).
“We consider any discrimination against the inhabitants of Crimea and Sevastopol founded on political reasons to be absolutely unacceptable”, the minister stated. In his view, “Brussels must understand that Crimea and Sevastopol are an inseparable part of Russia”. “And we remind the EU of our right to respond appropriately to these so-called restrictive measures against Russian citizens without distinction”, the Russian foreign affairs minister added (our translation).
The legal acts regarding the new measures adopted on 18 December were officially published in the Official Journal of the EU on Friday 19 December. The measures enter into force on Saturday 20 December. (CG)
