Brussels, 19/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 24 February 2015, the European Central Bank will reveal a new €20 note in the 'Europe' series, which will have improved security signs.
On the same day in February, the bank will announce the release date for the new note, the third in the Europe series following a €5 and a €10 note. The series was launched in order to improve the quality of euro bank notes and keep ahead of counterfeiting technology.
Eurosystem is helping manufacturers, suppliers and banknote verification device owners to prepare for the arrival of the new twenty-euro note, which will be on display for them in eurozone central banks well ahead of the issuing date so that they can use it to test on their authentification and telling devices. A communication event will take place at Banca d'Italia in Rome on 6 February 2015. (MB)
