12/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - David Schwendiman is new Lead Prosecutor at SITF. David Schwendiman of the United States has been nominated as the new Lead Prosecutor for the Special Investigative Task Force (SITF) in Kosovo, announced the European External Action Service (EEAS) on Thursday 11 December. The EEAS explains that the SITF was established by the European Union in 2011 as an independent criminal investigation into the serious allegations contained in the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly report of January 2011 by Senator Dick Marty entitled: Inhuman treatment of people and illicit trafficking in human organs in Kosovo. The new Lead Prosecutor will lead the SITF investigation, as well as any criminal proceedings arising from it. The EEAS commented: “Mr Schwendiman's selection is a signal of strong commitment to see this investigation come to a conclusion.” David Schwendiman, who was International Prosecutor at the Special Department for War Crimes at the prosecutor's office in Bosnia Herzegovina, takes over from Clint Williamson.
