EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) corrigendum

04/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - Malmström does not envisage CETA in force before 2017. Contrary to what was written in EUROPE 11210 regarding the meeting of European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström with the European Parliament's international trade committee on 3 December, Malmström mentioned the entry into force of the comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA) with Canada and not the ongoing negotiations with the US for a transatlantic trade and investment partnership agreement (TTIP). “It does take time with the CETA. We will have to do the legal scrubbing - normally it takes half a year - then the translation into all the EU languages, then the ratification process. Hopefully it can enter into force in 2017”, Malmström said in response to a question from Christofer Fjellner (EPP, Sweden). (EH)
