Brussels, 12/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - Workers made redundant by the Fiat Auto car plant in Poland may be able to benefit from €1.2 million, as part of the proposal to use the European Globalisation Fund (EGF) presented by the European Commission on Tuesday 11 November.
This support from the EGF is expected to help 777 workers made redundant by Fiat. In total, 1,079 workers have been made redundant by the manufacturer and 21 of its suppliers have subsequently gone under due to Fiat's declining share of the market in the global manufacturing of passenger cars. The estimated total cost of the package by the Polish authorities is €2.5 million. The European Parliament and Council of the EU will soon be examining this proposal. (JK)
