Umea, 26/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - Poland has two months to provide the Commission with explanations for its delay in implementing the Single European Sky.
In a reasoned opinion sent on Thursday 25 September, the Commission warned Warsaw that it needs to bring its legislation into line with EU provisions on the management of air traffic (regulation 255/2010). If the Commission has not had the reassurances it seeks within two months, Poland could be brought before the Court of Justice of the EU.
The Commission has also sent a reasoned opinion to Belgium over the fees charged by airports to airlines to use their infrastructure. This member state is believed not to be fully applying the European legislation which lays down minimum standards to avoid discrimination and ensure fair competition between the major European airports (directive 2009/12/EC). Brussels will also have two months to bring its legislation into line with EU law. (MD)
