Over €11 billion to support reforms

Brussels, 26/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 26 September, the European Commission set out the detail of a financial aid plan for over €11 billion that the EU will grant the Balkans and Turkey for the 2014-2020 period to support their reform efforts. The funding will be available through the instrument for pre-accession assistance (IPA II).

For the 2014-2020 period Turkey should therefore be allocated €4.4539 billion. Serbia should benefit from €1.508 billion, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia from €664.2 million, Albania from €649.5 million and Kosovo from €645.5 million. In addition, €270.5 million should be allocated to Montenegro. The multi-country allocations are expected to reach €2.9587 billion.

The allocations for Bosnia-Herzegovina will be published “at a later stage this year”, “the delay being due to a lack of the necessary coordination structures country-wide”, the Commission states. (CG)
