Brussels, 07/07/2014 (Agence Europe) - At their constitutive meetings on Monday 7 July, the 20 permanent committees and two sub-committees of the European Parliament elected their chairs and deputy chairs (election of the “bureau”).
Here are the results, at the time of going to press:
- industry (ITRE): Chair: Jerzy Buzek (EPP, Poland) for two and a half years, followed by Janusz Lewandovski for the rest of the mandate; Deputies: Patrizia Toia (S&D, Italy), Hans-Olaf Henkel (ECR, Germany), Miloslav Ransdorf (GUE/NGL, Czech Republic) and Morten Helveg Petersen (ALDE, Denmark).
- economic affairs (ECON): Chair: Roberto Gualtieri (S&D, Italy); Deputies: Markus Ferber (EPP, Germany) and Peter Simon (S&D, Germany) (two others will be elected on14 July).
- foreign affairs (AFET): Chair: Elmar Brok (EPP, Germany) for two and a half years; Deputies: amongst others, Ryszard Legutko (CER, Poland).
- budget (BUDG): Chair: Jean Arthuis (ALDE, France); Deputies: Petri Sarvamaa (EPP, Finland), Jens Geier (S&D, Germany), Siegfried Muresan (EPP, Romania) and Patricija Sulin (EPP, Slovenia).
- fisheries (PECH): Chair: Alain Cadec (EPP, France); Deputies: Isabella Lövin (Greens/EFA, Sweden) Jaroslaw Leszek Walesa (EPP, Poland) Werner Kuhn (EPP, Germany) and Renata Briano (S&D, Italy).
- civil liberties, justice and home affairs (LIBE): Chair: Claude Moraes (S&D, UK); Deputies: Kinga Gall (EPP, Hungary), Lliana Iotova (S&D, Bulgaria), Jan Philipp Albrecht (Greens/EFA, Germany) and Barbara Kudrycka (EPP, Poland).
- environment, public health and food safety (ENVI): Chair: Giovanni La Via (EPP, Italy); Deputies: Javor Benedek (Greens/EFA, Hungary), Daciana Sârbu (S&D, Romania), Pavel Poc (S&D, Czech Republic) and Gilles Pargneaux (S&D, France).
