Brussels, 07/07/2014 (Agence Europe) - The Commission is likely to provide a follow-up to its urban agenda goals soon. In the second half of the month, a communication is expected to be put forward, followed by a public consultation. The initiative follows on from the Urban Forum organised by the European Commission in Brussels in February to sound out local authorities on the usefulness of European action at an urban level.
The communication and consultation are expected to cover different pending questions, such as the added value of European action for an urban agenda, and the role of local and regional authorities in implementing it. It is also about working out whether it would be better to establish priority action areas or a general framework for strengthening coordination between the work carried out at a sectoral level at European, national and local levels.
