07/07/2014 (Agence Europe) - EU condemns terrorist attack. On 6 July, the European Union condemned the terrorist bomb attack which killed a police officer in Bahrain, in the Shi'ite village of Eker, on the same day. “Violence cannot in any way contribute to national reconciliation”, stressed Michael Mann, spokesperson to High Representative Catherine Ashton. He added that more dialogue was needed between all Bahraini internal political players. Since 2011, the country has been hit by a wave of protests and violence against the regime. Attacks on the security forces have intensified in recent months. Since mid-February, at least four police officers have been killed. (CG)
