01/07/2014 (Agence Europe) - New head of European Commission Representation in Copenhagen. Laurs Norlund has been appointed as head of representation in Denmark and takes up office as of today. After beginning his career in the Danish Foreign Ministry, Norlund has held several senior positions in the European Commission for almost 20 years. From 1995 until 1999 he served as head of cabinet for Ritt Bjerregaard (former European commissioner for the environment and nuclear safety). From 1999 until 2004, Norlund was deputy head and then head of cabinet for Frits Bolkestein (former European commissioner for the internal market). Since 2004, he has been a director at Eurostat. The Commission has representations in all of the 28 EU member states, and has regional offices in Barcelona, Belfast, Bonn, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Marseilles, Milan, Munich and Wroclaw. (LC)
