€238.6 million available for LIFE project proposals

Brussels, 26/06/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 25 June, the European Commission announced that €238.86 million is available to co-finance innovative environmental and nature protection projects under the LIFE programme for Environment. This is the first call for proposals that the Commission has launched under the sub-programme of LIFE 2014-2020 - the EU's financial instrument for the environment and climate.

Interested organisations are asked to submit applications for traditional projects by 16 October 2014, and for integrated projects by 10 October 2014. Projects should aim to integrate environmental and climate issues, and their solutions, into other policies, and will enable European funding to be granted jointly in order to facilitate the application of legislation on water, waste, air and nature protection.

LIFE 2014-2020, which has been allocated €3.4 billion (December 2013 prices), is divided into two programming periods: 2014-2017 and 2018-2020. (AN)
