In Tunis on Monday 23 June, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed two financing agreements for Tunisian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to help them win export orders. The first agreement is for €10 million for Tunisie Leasing, which will use the money to provide support for SMEs. The second is also for €10 million, this time for Tunisia-Kuwait Bank to support foreign trade. EBRD intervention for the private sector in Tunisia will total €100 million by the end of 2014. EBRD says it is prepared to intervene to help reform and restructure the country's banking sector and also to boost urban transport and railways in Tunisia. Intervention in the clean and renewable energy sector is also envisaged. (FB)
