Brussels 17/06/2014 (Agence Europe) -The EU organised consultations with civil society and trade ministers in Tunis on 18 June on the deep and comprehensive free-trade agreement (DCFTA). Speaking on behalf of the European delegation in Tunis, Michaela Dodini, in charge of trade matters, said that, “we are still in the preparatory phase ahead of the future launch of negotiations”. At a forum organised on 6 June by the Tunisian Association of Economists, she indicated that “little progress has been made in Tunisia in the negotiations on the DCFTA”.
According to Dodini, the EU would like professors, university academics and research centres to take the initiative and carry out studies to identify priorities for the negotiations on this agreement.
Dodini asserted that the DCFTA is an “ambitious economic reconciliation project that will benefit Tunisia in terms of investment, market access, competitiveness, growth and job creation”. (FB)
