Brussels 23/05/2014 (Agence Europe) - On an official visit to Rabat, Morocco, on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 May, EU Neighbourhood Policy Commissioner Stefan Füle said he wanted to see a solution to the “problems” that have arisen between Brussels and Morocco on the question of food imports. Moroccan press agency MAP says that Füle said that the problems required “political guidance” by means of ad hoc negotiations.
Quizzed about the demand by Brussels that an EU-Morocco fisheries agreement be brought into force, Moroccan Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar said the ratification process was following its normal course. The fisheries agreement was approved by the Moroccan parliament in February and is now awaiting final approval from the King of Morocco, which the minister said would take two to three months. (FB)
