Brussels, 05/05/2014 (Agence Europe) - Leading the UK opinion polls in the run up to the European elections, the leader of the UK nationalist party UKIP, Nigel Farage, has again spoken - in an interview with French news agency AFP this weekend - of his hatred for the European Union and its institutions, while giving assurances that he loves the continent and European culture. Farage, who has been an MEP since 1999, is predicting a political earthquake at the end of May and believes that there will be “a more lively and more interesting” Parliament after the elections - thanks to the arrival of all kinds of eurosceptics “between the ultra-nationalist wing of the hard eurosceptic Right (…), more eurosceptic communists” and “more people like us, who are in the middle”. Anti-European Farage nevertheless doubts that this “collection” or “rainbow of eurosceptics of various colours in the next parliament”, which includes the French and Dutch populists Marine Le Pen and Geert Wilders, will be able to constitute a blocking minority. “Will it be enough to form a blocking minority? I don't know. I doubt it”, Farage said. What is more, he has officially refused to ally himself with Marine Le Pen. (SP)
