Green light for French IFMAS financing

Brussels, 28/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 27 March, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to French state aid for the IFMAS public-private partnership for the development of plant-based plastics and bio-based paints. In 2013, France submitted details of its plan to provide €43.65 million of aid in the form of a grant and a capital injection into SAS IFMAS. The procedures used by the company will make a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. The Commission says the state aid is justified because of the existence of market failures. Given the openness of the upstream technology markets and the limited market share that the beneficiary would have in them, any risk of distorting competition would be avoided. (EL)
