12/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - Enhanced cooperation on industry and SMEs. Meeting in Santiago on 11 March on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony for the Chilean president, Michelle Bachelet, the vice-president of the European Commission, Antonio Tajani, and the President of Uruguay, José Mújica Cordano, agreed to step up industrial cooperation between the EU and Uruguay. This cooperation will focus on four sectors in particular - shipbuilding, telecommunications, pharmaceutical products and veterinary medicine. Amongst other things, the Commission wants to help European companies to be present in these sectors in Uruguay, and plans to hold business meetings in various countries of the EU to promote this enhanced cooperation at a forthcoming visit of the Uruguayan authorities to Europe.
