Brussels, 04/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - According to an announcement made by the European Commission on 28 February, EU funding of €85 million will be made available in 2014 to help finance projects for improving online security, as part of the Horizon 2020 research programme. The Commission is seeking to develop trustworthy ICT solutions guaranteeing a secure and reliable digital environment in Europe. This €85 million planned this year comes on top of the €350 million already earmarked. In total, funding of €500 million is planned. The Commission points out that strengthening cyber security and privacy online are part of the objectives included in the new Horizon 2020 programme. (IL)
