EU logistic and materials support to Mali

Brussels, 28/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - The EU has provided an observation plane to Mali for security missions. It was given to Mali's national civil aviation agency (ANAC) during a ceremony attended by Mali's minister of equipment and the EU ambassador in Bamoko, Richard Zink, according to local media.

Zink reiterated the EU's commitment to supporting the surveillance efforts of the territory, and recalled that the EU has given four pick-up vehicles, night vision and classic goggles, briefcases for combating documentary fraud, and computers. This equipment is the last part of broader help that includes 190 vehicles for Mali to use and material for maintaining order that is to be used by security forces and justice officials, Zink stated. The list of support is detailed - 280 camels for the camel mounted cavalry of the National Guard, two vehicles for transferring detainees, and training that has been proposed by the EU. (FB)
