21/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - Norwegian and German candidates for secretary general. On Friday 21 February, a Council of Europe press release stated that its Committee of Ministers has decided to submit to the Parliamentary Assembly the candidacies of Thorbjorn Jagland (Norway) and Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger (Germany) for appointment to the post of secretary general with effect from 1 October.
