21/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - Extraordinary REGI meeting on Mayotte. The parliamentary committee on regional development (REGI) will be holding an emergency meeting on Monday 25 February to approve the tax reductions and exemptions granted to the French island of Mayotte, which became an outermost region (rather than overseas territory) on 1 January of this year. 59 consumer goods produced in Mayotte will be covered by the new tax regime. The report is being dealt with by the chair of the REGI committee, Danuta Hübner (EPP, Poland). This adoption in committee will allow the plenary to take the final vote on the same day. The report on the lessons learnt from the negotiations on the multi-annual financial framework 2014-2020, by Jan Olbrycht (EPP, Poland), will also be dealt with thereafter. (MD/transl.fl)
