Brussels, 27/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - The EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) has announced the granting of a €40 million credit line for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Tunisia. The agreement was signed at the end of last week and the management of the credit line has been entrusted to the Tunisian-Kuwaiti development bank (BTK).
In a press release, the EBRD states that it is delighted that this first loan to the Tunisian financial sector will go to support SMEs. It described these as “vital to the sustainable development of the real economy of the country”, at a time when credit for businesses is hard to access, added Francis Malige, a senior EBRD official.
