Verhofstadt beats Rehn in Commission president race

Brussels, 20/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - The race to become the next president of the European Commission has seen former Belgian prime minister, Guy Verhofstadt, and Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Olli Rehn, competing to win the ALDE party's backing. On Monday 20 January, the Finnish candidate, Olli Rehn, stood down in favour of Verhofstadt.
