Poulet des Cévennes becomes protected designation

Brussels, 06/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 5 November, the European Commission approved the application for the inclusion of two new designations on the list of protected designations of origin (PDO) and protected geographical indications (PGI). These are two French products: Poulet des Cévennes/Chapon des Cévennes (PGI), chicken raised in a natural environment and featuring a firm, yellow, succulent and low-fat flesh, and Gâche vendéenne (PGI), an oval Viennese pastry, tight and melting, tasting of butter and crème fraîche. These names will be added to the list of more than 1,100 products already protected by the legislation on geographical indications, designations of origin and traditional specialities.
